Hello, My Name is Benjamin Anderson
I never go into a project looking for interconnectivity with my previous film work. However, when reviewing them, I notice themes of magical realism, humanism, and the surreal. I tend to focus on the character relationships, then use the surreal to weave the character’s arc. This pushes my work in a direction dealing with social issues, such as civil rights and depression. Which will make my work relatable to the everyday person and a reflection of human nature. I am always working to evolve my style of filmmaking to bring humanity to the big screen. My perception of the world has been the main impact on my projects. However, I have always admired the films of Charlie Kaufman and Guillermo del Toro. Their work takes high concept ideas then breaks them down into human-based stories about people. Comedy has influenced my perception of the world in different, strange, and funny ways. The works of George Carlin and Andy Kaufman come to mind as inspirations.
